Gaming That First Professional Science Poster

One of the most daunting tasks for a new graduate student is their first interaction with the scientific community. The medium for this is often that extension of our grammar school science fair, The Poster. Uber-meetings can present some surprises for students (and their mentors) so it is great to get a little experienced  advice when getting a poster ready.

cbpColin Purrington, an Associate Professor of Evolutionary biology at Swarthmore College has written an excellent primer on designing an presenting a scientific poster. Half comedy, all good advice, he takes you through the design process starting with the ugly reality that most poster sessions are conducted under conditions that promote about everything else other than a careful reading of a scientific poster.

So for some really good advice, read on here.
